Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames
My son introduced me to Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames - by way of Guitar Hero on the Wii. It's seven minutes and twenty-two seconds of pure crystalline Euro speed guitar. Not to mention the earnest lyrics of uplifting sincerity. Kind of like Yngwie J. Malmsteen squeezed into a Japanese game console.
Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand In Mine
I don't recall where I picked up some songs from Explosions in the Sky, but this music started merely as catchy electro-instrumentals and now has grown into one of my favorite power toned groups. My favorite is Your Hand In Mine, it just builds and soars and isn't like any other music around. Of course, Welcome, Ghosts is awesome too.
Their music is sublime and infectious. One day I was surprised to hear it on the radio (KEXP) and the guy I was carpooling with even recognized it from the music I have going all day at work.

Tangerine Dream - Thru Metamorphic Rocks
Not everyone likes electronic or instrumental music, but I certainly do. The first big ethereal electronic music group that I listened to a lot was Tangerine Dream. Their Force Majeure album is one of my favorite of all the albums I have. Each time I give it a listen it still sounds fresh and energetic. I especially like Thru Metamorphic Rocks, it really draws you in and takes you on a trip - and for an eighteen minute song, that's not an easy feat.
